A magnet site for tourists and locals alike, Old Jaffa is a mosaic for Christians, Jews and Muslims. The prophet Jonah reputedly set off from Jaffa before being swallowed by the whale and the New Testament’s St. Peter raised Tabitha from the dead here.

The port is lined with small fishing boats, St. Peter’s Monastery was built overa 7^th Crusade Citadel remains, the 18^th century built Ilana Goor Museum houses stone, metal and wood sculptures by Goor and although the 19^th century El Mahmoudiye Mosque is closed to the public, glimpsing the ornate carved doors and spacious restored courtyard surrounded by arches is worth the short stroll.
